WAXING
WAX ON, WAX OFF
Licensed and trained in their craft, our beauty technicians expertly assess individual hair and skin types and are equipped with the industry’s best products, giving each client the care they deserve. We know this isn’t the most pleasant visits, that’s why our professionals have perfected the art of comfort and will take every measure possible to ensure it. Each step will be quick but thorough, minimizing discomfort and maximizing results.
For your enhanced comfort, please adhere to the following recommendations on waxing preparation and care.
PREPARING FOR WAXING
For best and most thorough results, it’s important to have a minimum of 1/4” hair growth. Please do not shave or tweeze the area to be waxed for a minimum of 2 weeks, or at least until hairs are long enough to grip with fingertips.
Use an exfoliating glove or loofah before an appointment, to help lift any ingrown hairs and open up the follicles.
Using a light moisturizer on dry or irritated skin in the area to be waxed can alleviate discomfort.
Do not use body oil or body butter prior to waxing, which will inhibit the wax from adhering to the hair.
Do not get a Spray Tan or use a tanning bed 24 hours prior to an appointment. Whenever possible, it is also best to refrain from exposing large, freshly-waxed areas to UV light or Spray Tanning for 24 following a wax.
Do not use skin care products containing alpha hydroxy acid, or trentinoin products such as retin-a and renova, in the area(s) to be waxed at least 4-7 days prior to waxing.
Accutane users are not good candidates for waxing.
AFTERCARE
Avoid exposing waxed areas to heat for 1-2 days following a procedure, including saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, sunbathing, and tanning beds.
Keep the area clean and dry for 24 hours after an appointment. Apply a light, fragrance-free moisturizer to the area if desired. Hydrocortisone cream or aloe can be applied to any irritated areas. We also offer products for those prone to ingrown hairs.
Do not apply deodorant for 24 hours following an underarm wax.
Do not wear tight pants after Leg and Bikini Waxing and be sure to wear breathable cotton panties for 24 hours.
Avoid working out for 24 hours after waxing. Sweat may irritate freshly waxed skin.
For new clients, it is common that following the first two or three waxings, especially Leg and Brazilian, you may still feel some short hairs remaining in the waxed area. This occurs more frequently with clients that have coarse, dark hair, but is mostly due to hair growth occuring in three cycles. It may take a number of appointments to remove all hairs on each different growth cycle.
To maintain a smooth appearance, please do not shave between appointments, which will weaken or destroy hair follicles. We recommend regular waxing every 4-6 weeks.
Some soreness, small bumps, and redness are common, temporary reactions, particularly if it is the first time being waxed. These symptoms should subside in 24-48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
TIPS
We know waxing can be intimidating for even the toughest out there, especially if it’s someone’s first time. So while individual results may vary, the following are some helpful tips that can be taken to maximize comfort levels.
Caffeine has been attributed to heightened sensitivity, especially when consumed prior to a waxing procedure.
A Brazilian Wax is not as scary as it may seem. Our expert technicians have performed more than we can count, and this experience helps in relieving the discomfort and the stigma.
Women can still get a Brazilian Wax while on their period. Just be sure to wear a tampon and let your technician know ahead of time.
The first time is the worst time, but it gets easier. It’s mostly anxiety that heightens the discomfort of a first wax, so once that’s removed, it’s quick and easy after that.
